Association
Protecting Lapland's nature together

Meän Kaira ry is an association established in 2024 that aims to promote the preservation of biodiversity in Northern Finland. The association is politically and religiously independent, non-profit organization. We operate especially in the Pulju area and have begun to organize on behalf of the Pulju Wilderness, as there are plans for a large mine next to a specially protected river, Natura 2000 area, and national park - in other words, in an all-around high-risk location. Our goal is to highlight the area's natural values and preservation, promote diverse and reciprocal dialogue regarding the state and use of local nature, and produce related information for citizens through means including science and art.
We hold an annual meeting once a year. The next annual meeting will be held in spring 2025.
